Sawaarea Niyah is in the 11th grade and in the SES program. She was born and raised in Los Angeles but is the daughter of two immigrant parents from Bangladesh. She has another sibling who graduated from John Marshall in 2021. Sawaarea is passionate about psychology and music and wishes to study both in college. She has always been interested in the way humans use their brains to think and decide what to do and how to do things. She has been playing violin for 4 years, taught herself guitar, and recently began learning to play the piano.
