It’s important as seniors that we give back to John Marshall high, this community that has given so much, and in respecting its generosity, give our school something in return. I asked some Seniors at John Marshall the simple question, “What advice would you give to freshmen?”. These comments hopefully may help future Freshmen to come as they may struggle with the new responsibilities that come with being a student at John Marshall. While this advice is targeted towards freshmen, even some soon to be seniors will find this advice informative.
Arthur Flores, the magnet valedictorian says to “Take Nagaishi for AP Biology and Ap environmental science.” Arthur would also go on to say that “You should join a sports team, they help you meet new people and make new experiences.”
Maheem Mir, a former stage and studio crew member said to “Attend school events, you’ll get to meet a lot of new people and make new friends,” and also “Meet with your college counselor, they are invaluable.”
Francis Alindada, president of Magnet Leadership says “Do extracurricular activities like clubs or join a school group like stage and studio, journalism, or yearbook” elaborating further “That its important to make connections in High School as they will last outside of it as well.”
Micheal Goi, the ASB treasurer told me “Understand your limits, don’t overload yourself with too many APs. You are going to end up taking a few and with those you do take should be in subjects that you have an actual interest in, so you don’t end up confused or lost.“
Brianna Lopez-Rodriguez, a student of SAS, says “Get in the habit of turning in assignments on time,” and to “Take extracurriculars and do volunteer work that aren’t just for your transcript but prepare you as well for the career or path you want.”
