On Tuesday, February 11th, a group of student activists from many LAUSD high schools collaboratively organized a safe and peaceful walkout to take a stand against the newly introduced immigration policies being implemented by Presid
ent Donald J. Trump. This demonstration encouraged highschools across LAUSD to walkout and join other schools in front of City hall in Downtown Los Angeles, showcasing the students commitment to advocating for what they believe is right and demanding change for the unjust policies affecting immigrants. Before this protest, there was also an earlier walkout that took place on the week before, on February 4th, organized by student activists at John Marshall High school. During this protest, students marched along the Trader Joe’s intersection, where they crossed the street and protested in the middle of the intersection before walking towards the bridge near Water Village, making a louder statement by walking through these public spaces.
