As students file into the auditorium after they finished their 4th periods, and as musicians do sound checks of their instruments, and as stage crew fix and set up their equipment and lights, December 6th’s Battle of the Bands begins.
In the 30 minute timeslot the showing had, five bands managed to play while still having about 1-2 before lunch ended. In that time, the bands Vultures, Crash Course, Toxic Shock Syndrome, House of Leaves, and Scarlett Redd performed in front of the eager barristers while enveloped in stage light.
Along with our barrister musicians pouring their heart out in the talent they honed, confirmation was finally given for this year’s date for Bach, Rock, and Shakesphere. The annual performance at the Greek Theatre will be on May 9, 2025.
After the show rang out it’s last chord and students slowly left for their 5th periods, I asked around what people liked about Battle of the Bands.
“We get to see students’s passion in music and I love to listen to music,” says Rashel Ramirez, 11th grade.
“What I like about Battle of the Bands is that it brings students and their creativity to form bands an create music,” said Mr. Finn, who also serves as the show’s director. “It also gives us a chance to use all the equipment we’re lucky enough to have,” he followed up.
