The annual Battle of the Garage Bands at Marshall has begun. Battle of the Garage Bands, or BOTGB in short, started with auditions on September 24th this year and has had two outside performances so far. All these bands have one objective, to reach the Greek Theatre and to be the best of the best. The participating bands are all Student-led, and range from mellow to metal. To reach the Greek, bands must touch listeners’ hearts (in a google form) to be chosen as the winner.
This year we had various bands perform for our entertainment and their own interest. The first battle took place on September 27th and consisted of four bands: House of Leaves, The Vultures, Crash Course, and Scarlet Red. With the victor, House of Leaves winning the vote, and The Vultures behind them.
The second battle on October 24th had a few more bands. Scarlet Red and Crash Course coming back for their rematch, and Iris, The Plutos, and Little Fosters joining the fight. With Iris being on the 2nd place podium, the winning band, The Plutos, won the battle.
However, due to the colder climate, future BOTGB shows will be performed in our school’s auditorium. So on December 6th, get ready for Stage and Studio’s third Battle of the Garage Bands. To stay tuned on future performances at Marshall, listen to the morning announcements, ask people who you think might know, and follow John Marshall Highschool related Instagram accounts.
