On Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, Dodger fans flooded downtown Los Angeles to attend the Dodger parade presented by Yaamava in celebration of their eighth World Series championship title. After thirty-six years, the Los Angeles Dodgers brought back home a full-season World Series win, following an intense game against the Yankees with a final seven to six comeback win in game five at the Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.
And, oh boy, did Los Angeles show up for the boys in blue.
Around two million fans were in attendance, many began securing their spots before Friday morning, others even driving several hours from different parts of Southern California to witness such a historic parade 36 years later. Starting at City Hall, the parade continued on Spring Street, then heading west on Fifth Street, culminating later between Fifth and Flower Street. Large crowds were making all kinds of cheers in support of the World Series champs as they could be seen on open-top double-decker buses waving to fans. Flags and colors of blue and white could be seen vibrantly. Echo Park native Adonis Gomez, a sixteen-year-old junior at Downtown Magnet High School, skipped school to join in on the Dodger celebration fun with friends. “ It’s cool seeing everyone celebrating together, I was worried about having FOMO, so I had to come by with friends” he mentioned that happy to be watching the parade. “Even Though I can barely squeeze through the crowd to see, I’m so happy to have an excuse to come see and cheer for some of my favorite Dodger players.” For Adonis and many other fans attending the parade, this was a memorable moment of victory for Los Angeles.
