Are you interested in games, coding, and MONEY? If yes, then there is a club for you! Every other Wednesday, the Game Development meets in Room 721 (Mr. Infante’s room) to learn how to work together and make games for the community. I had the opportunity to interview Timothy Mokhov, junior and president of the club during their meeting, on Wednesday, October 30, to find out more. When asked, “What is game development?” Mokhov responded quite proudly, “To us game development is where we could put our minds together, make a project and build something that others can see…the whole point of it is to have everybody in the club to basically create something that can be published and used to innovate. We use this to gain resources, gain revenue, members, etc.” Mokhov also shared that the club is a great place to learn how to create games.
When someone thinks about game development, they might be stumped on its goal in the long run. Mokhov explains, “We want to get everyone into the colleges they want and to have fun. I think that having fun is the main key because this is a very unique concept that clubs haven’t really seen; and also to get revenue and more members. It’s a great place to meet new people and get into really cool opportunities.” and to him it would look good on college applications. By joining the club not only are you able to have fun with the people but also having fun by trying out how to code and conduct games on Roblox.
Some examples of the games they make according to Mokhov “We make really simple competitive playable games, which are easy to produce at a big scale so we don’t really want to make something that is complicated so that people couldn’t understand or produce. So something colorful, creative, competitive, and easy to understand. Something like obbys, tower games, tycoons, etc..”
In closing Mokhov adds, for new incoming students looking for a club to join he emphasized, “We are making money over here, so if you want to make money, join the club.”
