The JMHS girl’s volleyball team has once again proven why they are a force to be reckoned with. Against Wilson, they went in and dominantly controlled the game, getting kills left and right showing that they are ready for the playoffs, and potentially another Division 1 ring.
Game Highlights
Wilson was outmatched from the start. The JMHS girls’ volleyball team took an early lead thanks to their amazing team play and Coach Manahans game plan, knowing they were going against a team that they could beat, he said, “The game plan is really to focus on our team and have better communication, energy, team spirit, and making sure our passing is on point,” the girls heard their coaches game plan and executed. Kill after kill and serve after serve, Wilson was left defenseless.
Coach Manahan gave this game’s MVP to Grace Azendo, saying, “She keeps a positive energy and keeps the team together.”
Key Players & Coaches
The team owes much of its success to standout athletes, such as their front-row trio of Oleana Taalman-Koch (12th), Clover Kirchener (12th), and Kacey Santiago (12th). Whether it’s Grace Azendo’s (12th) incredible defense or Sacha Carmicheal’s (11th) consistent setting, each athlete brings something special to the game.
Additionally, Coach Manahan’s guidance has been crucial. His season goal is to “defend our Division 1 City Championship or to compete in the open division.” The players have truly taken in this philosophy and pushed each other to be better each day in practice.

Moving on with the season, the JMHS girls’ volleyball team is ready to keep going with momentum as they have their eyes set on their upcoming playoff game. It is yet to be decided whether they will be in Division 1 or open, but either way, they are ready to take on any team.
